Caplansky takes meat on rye to the extreme
What we ordered: Smoked meat sandwich, pea soup, latkes, turkey club.
Notes: Meat was a bit dry on the smoked meat sandwich, though it had the right flavour. I really wish they would offer a reuben, but I guess a girl needs a reason to go to NYC, right? I enjoyed the pea soup (soup of the day) which was the perfect texture and consistency. The latkes are crispy on the outside and something between a puree and diced potato texture inside - totally different than the potato "pancakes" that I grew up eating. But I loved how they were served with cinnamon apple sauce. It was sweet enough to satisfy my desire for a slice of pie (although I am definitely saving room next time for a homemade dessert).
Service was good and attentive. I would definitely recommend if you, like me, sometimes miss fatty, rich meats and mustard to remind you of childhood.
